Drinking or smoking more

Lots of us drink more alcohol or smoke more to 'relax' when stressed. It's understandable, even though we know these choices are not the healthiest. Worse still, they can simply add to our stress.

After the short-term effects have worn off, the chemicals which nicotine and alcohol release in your body leave you feeling edgy. (Which might make you want more alcohol or cigarettes.) And, then you might also feel you're letting yourself down by doing something unhealthy. It's another vicious circle.
